An expert council evaluated the modern practices of TAGMET aimed at environmental improvement of the region and environmental protection as well as ecological parameters of such upgraded equipment as high-efficiency gas-treatment system of the steel-making unit, water recycling and water treatment units, production waste monitoring & management systems.
TAGMET’s environmental activities have been many times highly appraised at the federal level. For instance, in 2019 TAGMET became the winner of the All-Russian Competition “Nature Conservation Leader of Russia – 2019” in the nomination “The Best Ecologically Responsible Company in the Field of Iron Industry”, as well as received a silver medal in the nomination “Methodology in the field of Control and Assurance of Safe Work Conditions”. Besides, for two years in a row the plant hit the podium of the All-Russian Competition “Health and Safety”.
TAGMET developed and implemented an Environmental Management System complying with the requirements of ISO 14001 on the basis of their Environment Protection Policy.
“The Company continues its systematic work on improvement of the region environment – we plant trees on the territory of the plant and the city, strengthen fish protection structures, replenish the resources of Azov and Black Sea. In the current year we finished building a noise screen separating the plant from the urban area. Over the last two years more than 55 thousand Russian sturgeon juvenile fishes were released in the low reaches of the Don river. In 2020 TAGMET spent about 170 million rubles on environmental activities, and we are determined to continue implementing ecological initiatives in accordance with our new three-year environmental program accepted in the Company”, - says Sergey Bilan, TAGMET Managing Director.    
All-Russian Completion “Nature Conservation Leader of Russia” is held for public encouragement of companies for their environmental and nature conservation efforts. Competition participants are governmental and non-governmental companies, specialized non-commercial organizations, associations and union.
