The first meeting of the Russian-Chinese working Subgroup on Standardization in the Oil and Gas Industry under the Permanent Russian-Chinese Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Standardization, Metrology, Conformity Assessment and Inspection Control was held on September 2, 2026. The Working Group is a division of the Subcommittee on Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Commission on the preparation of regular meetings of the Heads of Government of China and Russia.
The meeting was chaired by Oleg Aksyutin, the Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Chairman of the Russian Technical Committee for Standardization No. 023 “Oil and Gas Industry”, and Wang Zhengyuan, the Deputy Head of the Scientific and Technical Management Department of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the General Secretary of the Chinese Technical Committee for Standardization Oil and Gas Industry.
Representatives of the central office of Rosstandart, the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Russian Institute of Standardization", Gazprom PJSC, Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC and BT Group took part in the work from the Russian side.
The Chinese side was represented by experts from the State Administration for Market Regulation of the People's Republic of China (SAMR) and CNPC.
Anton Shalaev, the Head of Rosstandart, and Chengguan Guo, the Head of the Innovation Management Department for Public Administration Standards for regulating the Chinese market greeted the participants.
The work of the standardization subgroup in the oil and gas industry develops successful cooperation on inter-corporate standardization between Gazprom and CNPC. The companies successfully apply harmonized standards.
In the framework of the meeting the Activity Plan of the subgroup on standardization in the oil and gas industry providing for the formation of a list of mutually recognized standards as well as the development of standards for oil and gas terminology and key sectors of cooperation was signed. Methodological recommendations on the formation of Russian-Chinese terminological dictionaries for the oil and gas industry were also adopted.
Anton Shalaev, the Head of Rosstandart, noted that the launch of the Subgroup work is an important practical step in the development of Russian–Chinese cooperation on standardization.
