In 2021 over 1000 inventors from 11 countries took part in IIIC and applied 476 projects for participation. MMK participated in terms of collective presentation of Russian inventors and innovators organized by the International Innovation Club “Archimedes” and presented five developments at the forum each of which was awarded a golden medal.  
One of them was passive exoskeletons that can be used in key industries. The first Russian industrial exosuits were created on the initiative of PJSC MMK management for the most labor-intensive metallurgic professions like coke furnace battery doormen and blast furnace plant attendants. These devices make it easier to move loads, increase human physical abilities and make the work safer. After successful trials at the product site MMK exoskeletons are coming now into the market as a commercial product.
Another innovation development of MMK awarded a gold medal at the competition in Taiwan was “Method of production of high-strength cold-resistant rolled sheets of low-alloy steel” («Magstrong cryogenic» construction steel). The main fields of such rolled product application are tankers and tanks for liquefied gas transportation, static equipment, gas separation units and other elements of cryogenic equipment. Also, manufacturing such products PJSC MMK helps develop LNG technology which helps reduce the carbon footprint.
Another development under MAGSTRONG brand is high-strength construction steel MAGSTRONG W600. This is a high-strength cold-resistant rolled product made of low alloy steel. The main areas of its use are equipment and structures for the Far North and Arctic; lifting and manipulating machines; construction, agriculture and railway machines; loaded welded structures; platforms and bodies of heavy-duty quarry and sinking machines, crane structures.
Two more MMK developments presented at the competition are related to production of high-strength cold-rolled mill products for automobile industry. This is roll stock of various strength classes of two-phase martensite-ferrite steel, and also cold-rolled high-strength sheets of low alloy steel. As is well-known, MMK is the leading Russian automotive sheet manufacturer therefore many high-tech developments of the Company are meant for automobile industry.
Innovation activity is the priority area of scientific & technical development focus for PJSC MMK Group. Development and implementation of new types of product are among the key innovation areas. Successful implementation of innovation product manufacture at MMK became possible thanks in large part to new technological capabilities of modern manufacturing facilities built at the plant over the last decade. These capabilities together with the experience and professionalism of MMK researchers allow to develop the brand-new types of steel products able to satisfy even perspective consumer needs.
