The deepest floating oil platform in the world, operating at a depth of about 2,450 meters in the Gulf of Mexico, is the "Perdido". Its owner is Shell oil company. Difficult weather conditions of these latitudes include hurricanes, storms, strong currents, as well as the weight of the pipes through which oil will go up, did not allow to install the platform on the supports, so it was fixed on a floating support, and the entire structure was anchored with steel mooring cables on the ocean floor. It is believed that Perdido is a miracle of engineering, created in 2010.
Perdido is not only the deepest drilling platform, but in the informal "beauty contest" it is recognized as the most beautiful.
